A decent looking blackberry but has many points to compromise for: 1. Battery -> very weak 2. Camera is surely disappointing. No support for video calls 3. You can only drop it once. Very weak built quality. 4.

Short extract: RIM has taken note of the consumer demand for inexpensive messaging phones and delivered several devices that bridge business and consumer worlds. Its latest budget offering is the BlackBerry Curve 8520 that boasts social network access and a full Qwerty keypad.

Conclusion: This isn't a high-end phone and it suffers in certain areas but it does deliver when it comes to email, instant messaging and basic social networking. We were impressed by the music offering and we like that it's not as expensive as other BlackBerries but the lack of 3G is a bit of a turn off.

Short extract: The BlackBerry Curve 8520 shows that the future of the BlackBerry is here... kind of. By far the stand-out feature of the Curve 8520 is its new optical trackpad, which replaces the trackball for navigation -- and it rocks.

Conclusion: We tested the quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900; GPRS/EDGE) RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 in San Francisco using T-Mobile service and call quality was quite good. We didn't notice any type of voice distortion or background noise during calls and had no problem using an airline's voice automated system.
